Amanda Rodriguez AMANDA GARDNER

Amanda Gardner graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Communication and obtained a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. For several years, she taught fifth grade at a Phoenix elementary school and in her spare time discovered a love for fitness.

She was introduced to Power Pilates, a classical method of pilates training. As she noticed the changes in her body, she became fascinated with this form of exercise. After spending several years improving her own skills and learning more about this method, she decided to transfer her love of teaching over to the fitness industry.

Amanda received her certification through a Power Pilates program in Scottsdale, AZ. She was trained to work with clients of all ages and also with those suffering from pain caused by either injury or muscular imbalances. After witnessing firsthand the way in which pilates could transform, strengthen, and improve the lives of so many, she accepted a job offer at a Power Pilates affiliate training center in Scottsdale and began her career as an instructor.

Over the years, Amanda has received specialized training and continuing education in the following areas:
  • pregnancy and pilates
  • working with individuals with a wide range of special needs (i.e osteoporosis
  • and hip, neck, knee, lower back, and shoulder issues)
  • advanced work on the mat, tower, and wunda chair
  • pilates work on the jumpboard
  • pilates bootcamp classes
Now running her own pilates business, Core Conditioning, Amanda operates as an independent contractor here at The Pilates Institute of Scottsdale. She loves going to work everyday to share her knowledge and passion with others!

David Authement DAVID AUTHEMENT

While participating in ballet training in 2004, David discovered Pilates and soon became a dedicated student of the discipline. He began studying Pilates and quickly gained additional knowledge. David continued to develop his skills and expertise becoming a Certified PhysicalMind Institute Pilates Instructor in 2005. He has been a full time instructor since that time and teaches primarily introductory and intermediate students.

David was introduced to Gyrokinesis® in 2006 and through it began training in the Gyrotonic Expansion System® and earned his Certified Level 1 Instructor designation in 2008. David instructs students of varying levels.

David’s goal as an instructor is to help people better understand their bodies and to alleviate the aches and pains associated with poor alignment and/or trauma. He enjoys students who are attentive and eager to absorb information. His favorite students are looking for more than just a workout, who realize that the focus needs to be on restoring the body to optimal postural alignment and who learn to use their bodies in a biomechanically correct form. Once this objective is achieved, a student can focus on “working out”.

David also teaches percussion for the marching band program at Desert Mountain High School in Scottsdale, AZ.
